Our aqueduct broke last week. My life has hit a low point. I have been “bathing” outside, on my dona’s front porch, in a blowup kiddie pool. (By bathing, I mean getting in wearing my swimsuit, splashing around, beating all the kids several times at the “Who can hold their breath longer underwater?” game, getting out, drying off, and putting on new clothes). I don’t remember the last time I used soap. Needless to say, the unrealistic, idealized dreams of my great homeland have been plentiful recently. (This is where someone calls and offers to take me to an all-inclusive for a week…please…I’ll shower as soon as we get there, promise).
The one highpoint of the week was cooking with my nutrition group. We made Green Leaf Soup and a salad. We cooked outside, in the backyard of my family’s house – hung out, had fun, I burnt myself – you know, the usual. Everyone seemed to enjoy it, and it was delicious…and healthy! Here are some pictures from the event…
This is what we cooked on.
Adding more carbon.
Adding the carrots and auyama (like a pumpkin) to the soup.
The finished product – auyama leaves, auyama, onions, carrots, and noodles. And the salad in the background.
Digging in – she was super excited.
My dona. (This look reminds me of my two grandmas and the look they used to always give me – “Giitt outta here”)

Everyone except your dona seems to be having a good time. The soup looks good but with your description of your bathing habits, I’m not sure I would want to eat the soup in the same room as you.

The soup looks yummy! I’m sure you’ll get a bath before the wedding….Blessings to you and Happy Easter!

Just think how proud Mrs. Raynez would be that you are winning the “hold your breath underwater” contest. Hope the aquaduct is fixed before we come to visit:-)
Love, Mom
